Accessibility to the water is critical in many coastal, riverfront, and lakefront communities. PND has extensive design experience on numerous boat launch and vessel haul-out facilities. We assist communities with planning, securing funding, design, and construction inspection administration.
Boat launch facilities allow many small-vessel owners the ability to access the water without paying for hard-to-obtain and expensive marina slips. We are experienced in the design of launch ramps with adequate staging and parking; appropriate ramp slope and traction; adequate visibility; durable surfaces; and durable, low-maintenance boarding floats. PND’s ramps are often found in locations with large tidal ranges greater than 20 vertical feet.
Vessel haul-out facilities are used for larger vessels that cannot be tailored, yet still need to be removed from the water on a periodic basis for maintenance. Large commercial lifts operate over pile- or bulkhead-supported docks. PND has designed the docks for these lifts, as well as state-of-the-art wash-down pads.
