PND has had extensive involvement providing design services in support of the oil and gas industry throughout the Pacific Northwest, Russia and, most recently, in the West Indies. Our experience encompasses a wide range of marine structural design, including marinas, bulkheads, breakwaters, piers, floats, fills and dredging, permit assistance, and mitigation. Work for the oil and gas industry has also included transportation routes, highways, and bridges.
Working in Alaska, and particularly the Arctic, requires more than traditional engineering skills. The staff at PND has extensive knowledge in specialized areas of engineering. The firm has had much success with staff trained in-house because our training is very thorough. Development is intentionally planned around the employment of engineers experienced in the Arctic and sub-Arctic regions, as well as with conventional engineering skills. In turn, many PND projects have won numerous awards for innovative design, including the 900-foot Westdock Causeway and 700-foot Endicott Causeway breaches, installed in arctic waterways; Kuparuk River Bridge and Low Water Crossing, and the Oliktok Point Dock and Ice-Resisting Dolphins, on the North Slope; and the Tanana River Dock at Nenana.
To complement its proficiency in Arctic engineering, PND specializes in coastal and marine work, river hydrology and bridge design, and the design of buildings and other structural systems. In addition, the firm offers complete in-house geotechnical investigation and civil engineering support.
