Bridge design is a core competency at PND, with a number of award-winning structures designed by our staff. Our engineers have designed hundreds of bridges of varied material types and construction methods. PND’s bridge engineering experience ranges from the innovative STRAND BRIDGE™ system for long-span light pedestrian loads to North Slope heavy-duty structures. We have designed highway, pedestrian, and railroad bridges using a variety of materials, including timber, concrete, steel, fiber-reinforced plastic, and steel strand. PND has also provided design for recreational trail systems, including multi-use and non-motorized trails with pedestrian bridges. We specialize in trail design elements such as trail alignment plans, retaining wall structures, cuts and fills, erosion protection, pedestrian bridge structures, under- and overpasses, and ADA compliance.
