PND has conducted soils investigations and furnished geotechnical design in various locations throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska. We have been involved in the design of over 20,000 piles for pipeline supports, building foundations, bridge piers, and dock construction, and one of the firm's principals holds a patent on a procedure for pile driving in permafrost. Our projects have involved many aspects of geotechnical engineering, including:

  • Soils exploration/analysis for roads and structures
  • Refrigerated foundations
  • Material source investigations
  • Foundations in permafrost environments
  • Pile-driving testing and pile design
  • Heat and mass transfer computations
  • Earthquake design
  • Consolidation of soils
  • Slope stability analysis
  • Geotextile foundation systems
  • Shallow/deep foundations design
  • Soil stabilization and reinforcement
